That is what Green Man Gaming has done here. Then a company representative then bursts into your living room, says they are sorry but the sale was too good and removes said couch and throws the equivalent to what was paid on your counter whether you would like to give up the couch or not. Imagine you buy a physical item, a couch for example, that you have used for ~25 hours and has been in your living room for weeks. The game wasn't accidentally free either, just a decent discount applied. Why? Because they charged an "incorrect price" that had "unintended consequences" despite it being listed as part of a sale they provided. However Green Man Gaming revoked the copy of the game through Steam after ~25 hours of in game time, weeks after purchasing. I've played previous Age of Empires games, and this game lives up to the name. Purchased through Green Man Gaming's website, and have absolutely loved this game. Really sad considering AoE2 AI is extremely good.Īnd as of July 2022 there hasn't been a single piece of content that wasn't made for multiplayer in mind, for a game that takes Ages to find a match. There are no campaign characters, no different player colors for different campaigns, no sense of humor and above all, no soul.Īll could be pardoned by very tight skirmish games but the AI is completely unable to pose a challenge. Every single campaign is narrated by the same person, a woman who is bored out of her mind from reading these scripts. They were certainly aware of AoE2 and its fantastic campaigns but still wanted to make a senseless narration history lesson. Even the main theme is lazy and uninspired. Music is probably there, but I certainly haven't heard anything memorable whatsoever. It has very bad presentation, with an atrocious HUD with 0 flavor, samey icons and oversized prompts. Not exactly all the good features either - they ignored most improvements made in AoM, AoEO and AoE3 instead and added a huge amount of pointless mechanics, straight from a medievalized version of Company of Heroes. Took most of AoE2 and """fixed""" some things in a mix and match of random features from the other games in the franchise. For a more complete list, please visit our site and check out our blog.
